In 1999, four organisations came together to launch the Bangalore Cares initiative - the Rotary International District 3190, Murray Culshaw Advisory Services, Mahiti and Madhuvan - with a mission to
Raise the profile of the voluntary sector in Karnataka
Make known the vital work being done in the sector
Strengthen civil society initiatives within the state of Karnataka
Improve and expand civic, caring and developmental services to the prople of Karnataka
...with the help of the people of Karnataka and well-wishers wherever they live in India and indeed, around the world.
Bangalore Cares was thus envisioned as a bridge between the voluntary sector and the rest of the society, which required spreading awareness about important services provided by the voluntary sector and assisting voluntary organisations to raise resources.
The Board of Trustees comprises experienced Rotarians and stalwarts from the voluntary and fund raising sectors.
